  64. The aes id of the current main application is always 0 in all GEM versions,
  65. but this is an undocumented feature. But as this is the only fact that can
  66. can be used as a base for anonymous communication (i.e. communication between
  67. applications that do not know each other's name), it is used by all the
  68. communications protocols now in existence. If a multitasking TOS should
  69. ever be available, this will necessarily have to change; after all, only
  70. one program can have the id zero...

  287.  Well, it's me again with one more question:
  288.  
  289.  I've written some code that shows the free space of a selected drive letter
  290. (including hd partitions)...using Drvmap() to find which drives are active
  291. and Dfree() to calc the free-space on the user selected drive.
  292.   The problem is that if the user selects drive B: he's asked to insert disk
  293. B: in drive A: (I don't have an external drive), and as soon as he does so
  294. the ST freezes, or bombs, or resets (totally unpredictable)...It is  worth
  295. mentioning that this is an accessory program and that I have a MegaST 2 with
  296. TOS 1.2 (or 1.02).

  299.   Has this to do with the fact that both A: and B: drives are mounted on
  300. one physical drive?  Is it a bug of Dfree() or what?  I 've checked my code
  301. very carefully & don't find anything wrong...this is additionally confirmed
  302. by the fact that it's running fine with ALL other drives.

  393. I hope this goes out of the school, I haven't had much success.  My question is
  394. how to convert Adobe type 1 fonts for the IBM for use with PGS2.  I have found
  395. many type 1 font files with (PFB and PFM's in it , but NO AFM) How can I convert
  396. these to work, OR EVEN BETTER IS THERE A SITE THAT HAS FILES THAT WORK WITH
  397. the new pagestream(GREAT PROGRAM, I highly recommend it!!!)

  441. Both Gemini and NeoDesk, as well as the newer versions of TOS, let you install
  442. programs on the desktop and save the setup through the "Save Desktop" entry...
  443. the former is SHAREWARE (thus cheaper than the others), while the latter
  444. involves minimal hassle (but it also requires an STe/TT).
  445.  
  446.   But the idea with the small-menu sounds challenging... I'll try to write
  447. such a program (a la QuickMenu on the Mac)...don't hold your breath though
  448.  
  449.  
  450. P.S.  as an irrelevant note, the beta-testing of ATZENTA ver 2.20 is almost
  451.       finished...watch for a demo version of the program in the near future.

  480.     If what you're saying here is that NeoDesk won't run on an ST, that's
  481.  incorrect. It runs just fine on my TOS 1.0 ST

  525. where they can charge by the call, or by the time and distance, or at a flat
  526. rate until you hit 300 calls..

  552. Actually Gemini consists of 2 programs Venus and Mupfel, where Venus
  553. builds the graphical user interface and mupfel the commandline interface
  554. (shell in unix). This single programs work with older versions of TOS.
  555. You have to start mupfel first, and then you might start Venus from inside
  556. Mupfel.

  594. I hate to say this, but don't get your hopes up on it.  I've heard "on
  595. again, off again" rumours of it being available for the ST(e)/TT
  596. machines, and I've also heard that it will only be put in newer STe/TT
  597. machines.  Maybe if we got word from an official at Atari about this.  Are
  598. either of the Msrs. Pratt (Gregg/Alan) reading this?  Many users out there would
  599. like a straight answer on this.  Let's get our stories straight, as my
  600. original post was taken from the FoReM X-net from an Atari Canada
  601. employee.  Atari users unite, and demand real answers!
